Tender Heart to Heal the Wounds of History. Isaiah 58:12 says, “. . . and they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places.” It is talking about generational transfer. You have influenced somebody or you have brought somebody into existence by your union of the marriage bed, meaning children. There are two types of children, of course, natural children and spiritual children. Both are called to rebuild old waste places—something that still exists that began a long time ago.
In America, both White and Black races are in depopulation, as they are in many parts of the world. Even when they have everything they need, they don't want children. They have forgotten the creative purpose that God gave Adam in Genesis 1:28, “Be fruitful. Multiply. Replenish the earth. Subdue it.”
Father, help us to understand that life is about you and your reason for our existence. No matter what our race or culture or nation, let us have a divine sense of existence centered on your purpose, and let our lives glorify you and bless others.
One of the old waste places in America was slavery. The righteous are called to restore it. Some people in America’s colonies got it wrong for a season, but some also got it right. Each generation restores the old waste places by restoring the foundation of the Bible that built this country on fixed, uniform, and universal standards.
Isaiah 58:12b (KJV) says, “. . . thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.”
Jesus said, “For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required” (Luke 12 NKJV). Maybe you're the generation that will look back at these wrongs that were done and say, “It’s me, God. I am guilty. I wasn't there, but my heart is tender and I will speak for those in the past in identificational repentance.”
The generations need mercy and when we show mercy, we are like God. I will be “the repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.”
Isaiah 57:15 says, “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”
That means you can live and walk in constant revival if you can find humility and have a contrite heart before God. God wants to bring you to a place of brokenness where your heart is tender for Him so that you can heal the generation.
