Behavioral Qualities Have Eternal Consequences.
Living faithfully means aligning your life with God’s will, not just for this life but for eternity. Godliness, humility, meekness, and love are eternal traits that come from the Father, if you're born again. Walk in these virtues. They reflect the nature of God.
However, there is also a sobering warning for those who live solely for themselves. Revelation 20:14-15 (NLT) says, “Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.” This judgment of the wicked dead is real and eternal.
Some dismiss this truth, but scripture is clear that wickedness, like godliness, has eternal consequences. Revelation 21:8 (NLT) warns, “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
The story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16 further illustrates this point. Jesus describes a rich man who lived in luxury while ignoring a suffering poor man, Lazarus, at his gate. The rich man’s selfishness led to dire consequences for him in eternity, demonstrating that we will all be held accountable for our behavior and how we use the blessings entrusted to us.
Stay faithful to the godliness placed in you by the Father through being born again. Share Christ with others and encourage them to turn from sin while there’s still time. “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17 NLT).
